The first NH90 made in Spain takes off

The first NH90 fully assembled in Spain made its first flight in January on the site of Albacete, where it was performed, NH Industries announced. Designated GSPA03 this device type TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) will be delivered to the airmobile force of the Spanish army (FAMET) in 2013. For the record, two prototypes of NH90 Spanish made on the French site in Marignane, are currently in flight test and certification campaign of this machine. NH90 Spanish is distinguished by the choice of Madrid to opt for a turbine engine with two General Electric CT7 of 8F5 and a communication system adapted to Spanish standards and electronic warfare system designed by the group Indra.

In all, Spain has to acquire 45 NH90 TTH in version. The new helicopter, which has been the subject of an order in 2006, will not only equip the land forces, but also the Navy. In the Armada, it should indeed replace the  Sea King and AB212 currently in service. Delivery of 20 machines is provided for this purpose.

For the record, the NH90 program is supported by the NH Industries consortium, consisting of Eurocopter, and Fokker AugustaWestland.
